Grilled Cheese

Ingredients
- 2 slices bread (sourdough or white)
- 2 slices american cheese or 1/2 cup shredded cheddar
- 1 tbsp butter, softened
- 1 tbsp mayo (optional, for the outside of the bread)
Instructions
- Spread butter (or mayo) on the outside of each slice of bread
- Place one slice butter-side down in a skillet over medium-low heat
- Layer cheese on top, add second slice butter-side up
- Cook until bottom is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes
- Flip carefully and cook until the other side is golden and cheese is melted
- Slice diagonally and serve
Notes
- Mayo on the outside gives an even golden crust
- Low heat and patience makes the best melt
- Add tomato soup for the classic combo
