Spaghetti Bolognese

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb spaghetti
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat
  2. Add onion and cook until softened, about 4 minutes
  3. Add garlic and cook 1 minute
  4. Add ground beef, break apart, and brown until no pink remains
  5. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, Italian seasoning, and sugar
  6. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer uncovered for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally
  7. Season with salt and pepper
  8. Cook spaghetti according to package directions, drain
  9. Serve sauce over spaghetti with parmesan

Notes

  • Longer simmer time makes a richer sauce
  • Sauce freezes well for up to 3 months
